New Breasts for the New Year

Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon Serving Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin, and Nearby Nevada

January 22, 2020

The start of a new year is a great time to reflect and gain clarity on what is important to you and then to commit to taking action to achieve the results you want. If you are self-conscious or experience discomfort due to the size or appearance of your breasts, make this the year that you make a change. Breast surgery can transform asymmetrical, small, large, and sagging breasts, so you can feel and look your best for 2020 and beyond.

You have more options than ever for attaining breasts that fit your frame and your aesthetic. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Stephen M. Miller, is experienced in multiple types of breast surgeries, including breast augmentation, breast lifts, and breast reduction.

WHAT TYPE OF BREAST SURGERY DO I NEED?

The type of breast surgery you need depends on your goals for treatment. In your consultation with Dr. Miller, you can explain your concerns and desired outcome. Dr. Miller can then develop a customized procedure for you. The three breast procedures offered by Dr. Miller are:

Breast augmentation

If you desire fuller, larger breasts, breast augmentation is the solution. Breast enhancement is highly customizable, which is likely a contributing factor to this surgery’s high patient satisfaction rates. You can choose the size, shape, and type of implant to achieve your preferred look.

Breast lift

After pregnancy or weight fluctuations, or even as a result of age, the skin and tissue around your breasts can stretch and sag. The result is breasts that sit lower on the chest than they used to. This can happen to breasts of all sizes, so it is not uncommon for a breast lift to be done alongside a breast enhancement or a breast reduction. This surgery removes excess skin and repositions breast tissue to restore a lifted, perky look. Take our quiz to find out if you are a candidate for a breast lift procedure.

Breast reduction

Some women suffer as a result of large, heavy breasts. Shoulder, neck, and back pain are common among women with bigger breasts, and you may even find that you cannot do certain activities because your breasts are in the way. A breast reduction can provide significant relief from chronic pain and an improvement in self-confidence and body image.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO HAVE BREAST SURGERY?

When considering when to have breast surgery, you want to think about:

  • Pregnancy – If you plan to get pregnant, Dr. Miller may advise you to wait to have breast surgery. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can cause changes in breast size, so you could need an additional breast surgery to restore your desired look. Additionally, some breast surgeries may interfere with your ability to breastfeed, though this is not always the case.
  • Weight – It is best to be at or near your optimal weight when having a breast surgery. Significant weight fluctuations can affect the appearance of your breasts. If you can reach and maintain a healthy weight, you will likely enjoy your breast surgery results for many years.
  • Recovery – As with any surgery, there is a recovery period. You will need help around the house with basic tasks for a few days and will need to take time off work. Try to plan your surgery for when it is least disruptive to your work and home life. You may also want to consider the time of year.
