HOW DOES THE CELLULAZE CELLULITE LASER WORK?
Created by Cynosure, Cellulaze is an FDA-approved, minimally invasive, laser-based treatment designed to eliminate the appearance of cellulite. During Cellulaze treatment, a small tube called a cannula is inserted below the surface of the skin to liquefy fat and break down the fibrous tissue bands that contribute to cellulite. The unique laser fiber levels out lumps of fat and treats dimples by affecting the fibrous bands that pull down on the skin. This process also stimulates collagen and thickens the skin to create a smoother appearance.
IS CELLULAZE RIGHT FOR ME?
There are numerous treatments available that claim to eliminate cellulite. However, other treatments, such as lotions, creams, massage or external energy devices can only treat cellulite superficially, by treating the surface of the skin. The results of these options are inconsistent, and usually require either daily or weekly applications.
Cellulaze is the first and only cellulite laser treatment that addresses the underlying issues beneath the skin that cause cellulite. This provides proven, longer-lasting results from just one convenient treatment.
If you are a woman in generally good health and have cellulite in your hips, thighs or buttocks, you are likely a good candidate for Cellulaze therapy. Although most women are well-suited for Cellulaze treatment, this option may not be ideal if you:
- Are significantly overweight
- Have active skin infections
- Have diabetes
- Have varicose veins in the areas being treated
The best way to know if Cellulaze is an appropriate way to deal with your unwanted cellulite is to meet personally with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Stephen Miller. During your consultation, Dr. Miller will work to understand the concerns you have with the dimpled skin on your hips, buttocks, or thighs. He will conduct a thorough exam of your problem and determine if Cellulaze is right for you.
“Dr. Miller and his staff is absolutely, hands down, the best! He is so personable, honest and genuine! Him and the staff there truly take the time to get to know you and your needs… Thank you, Dr. Miller!” — Ashley A. (Google Review)
HOW LONG DO CELLULAZE RESULTS LAST?
According to clinical studies, Cellulaze results can last for a year or more. However, it is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen to enjoy long-lasting results.
RECOVERY TIME FOR CELLULAZE LASER CELLULITE TREATMENT
The Cellulaze cellulite laser treatment usually only requires local anesthesia. You may notice some light bruising, but you will be able to resume your normal activities after just a day or two. Dr. Miller may recommend wearing a compression garment for a short time following your procedure.
What Causes Cellulite?
Cellulite affects 80% to 90% of women after puberty. There are many theories as to what causes this puckered or dimpled appearance. The clinical name for cellulite is gynoid lipodystrophy, and it mainly occurs in the hips, buttocks, and thighs of women of all races and ethnicities. However, Caucasian females tend to have more cellulite than African American or Asian women. The orange peel-like texture and appearance tend to develop in a woman’s late teens, 20s, or 30s and may cause embarrassment and affect their quality of life.
Only 2% of men develop cellulite. Male cellulite is linked to prostate cancer treatment with antiandrogen or estrogen therapy, Klinefelter’s syndrome, and hypogonadism, indicating that cellulite is connected to hormones. Puberty, pregnancy, nursing, hormone replacement therapy in postmenopausal women, and long-term contraceptive use are known to worsen cellulite.
Women may experience cellulite more than men because of physical differences as well. Cellulite appears when fat pockets bulge out under thinner skin. Thick, fibrous connective tissue bands called septae connect fascia (slim tissue casing surrounding all organs) tissue to the skin (dermis), with adipose (fat) tissue filling the space between these vertical bands. These tight compartments can bulge out with enlarged fat cells, causing visible dimpling. Women may have more cases of cellulite than men because of differences in this fibroseptal network.
Septae are vertical in females but are angled at about 45 degrees in men’s skin. These fibrous bands crisscross in males and are shorter, thinner, and stronger than in women. These sexual differences in quantity and orientation could be why men, even obese men, are less susceptible to the appearance of cellulite.
There are other theories about the cause of cellulite, such as inflammation in the fibroseptal network or vascular changes. However, the risk factors for cellulite come down to your sex, age, race, and genetics. Lifestyle factors, such as weight gain, a high-carb diet, and lack of movement or regular exercise, may worsen cellulite.
How Much Does Cellulaze for Cellulite Reduction Cost?
Cellulaze treatment for cellulite reduction ranges from $2,500 to $9,500, depending on your location, the plastic surgeon, and the procedure details. Our Las Vegas office will provide a price estimate for your Cellulaze procedure during your consultation with Dr. Miller. Research Shows Laser Cellulite Treatment Is the Most Effective Option
Cellulaze is a unique treatment using a SideLaze3D™ side-firing fiber and cannula that senses the temperature in a 1440-nm Nd:YAG laser. Research shows this minimally invasive laser is one of the most effective treatments for cellulite reduction. Laser and light devices, such as Cellulaze, emit energy to the superficial and deeper skin tissues to stimulate collagen remodeling and strengthen the fibroseptal network with improved microcirculation. Patients report high satisfaction rates with minimal side effects or adverse reactions.
A 2016 study published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal evaluated the efficacy of Cellulaze (1440-nm Nd: YAG laser with a temperature-sensing cannula and side-firing fiber). The study included 57 patients. Evaluators compared images taken 12 months after Cellulaze treatment to baseline photos and could distinguish the “before” image 97% of the time at six months post-treatment and 91% at 12 months. Researchers concluded that Cellulaze laser technology provides safe and effective cellulite reduction for at least one year.
