After breast augmentation, it is important that you follow all of Dr. Miller’s post-surgical instructions. These will include instructions on incision care, pain management, and activity limitations that should be followed – to the letter – in order to reduce risks for complications. There will be instructions provided before surgery as well to help ensure you are fully prepared for the safest and most rewarding experience.
Will Breast Implants Change My Life?
Yes. Breast implants will change your life. They do not have to limit it. In fact, once you have healed from your surgery, you should be able to enjoy the same activities you always have without any complications. To get there, however, you’ll have to take certain precautions in the first few weeks following implant placement.
To minimize risks for complications and get back to normal as quickly as possible, it is best to:
- Not use tobacco products
- Keep incisions dry and clean
- Wear compression and support garments as instructed
- Limit activity
- Take time to rest
Dr. Miller is a board-certified plastic surgeon who cares deeply about the health and safety of our patients. During your time in our care, he will take every opportunity to make sure you are prepared for your procedure and the recovery period that will follow.
Will Breast Implants Prevent Me from Doing Cool Things?
Nope. Breast implants will not prevent you from doing the things you enjoy. Nor will they prevent you from doing important tasks like breastfeeding or getting a mammogram.
Implant placement and incision options can play a role in your postsurgical abilities and may be factors if you lift weights, swim, or engage in competitive sports but, as with other personal considerations, these things can be tailored to in order to optimize results.
During your initial consultation, Dr. Miller will carefully assess your lifestyle, listen closely to your needs, and thoroughly evaluate your frame to help you determine which procedural options will best suit your needs.
